New York Fashion Week 2017

This was my third season dressing New York Fashion Week, and as I'm sure you can imagine, it is always a wild experience. The first fashion show I ever dressed was Calvin Klein, and it was foreign territory. Giant fashion houses will often hire an outside company that brings a team of professional dressers in to dress their show, so their fashion team can focus on making everything perfect. I think it's a very wise move considering this year Coach had sixty models walk in the show and some of them even modeled two looks. These are GIANT productions.

Anyway, I had no idea what I was walking into that first day and carefully planned my black dresser outfit the night before with my roommates. When I got there, I was extremely excited, nervous, and mesmerized with the chaos swirling around me. While I was getting my model’s different looks ready backstage, Anna Wintour was walking around the room with the Calvin Klein designer to see the clothes up close and stood right next to me. And then Kendall Jenner walked into the room. I died. Later on, I got to dress shows by Marc Jacobs, J Mendel, and Carolina Herrera. Dressing a fashion show is completely different than dressing a Broadway show, the main reason being the clothes. Unlike Broadway costumes, which are built to be extremely durable, high fashion clothes can be very delicate and aren't made for rapid quick changes. So, quick changing a model’s full look in under twenty seconds can be tricky, but I LOVE a challenge.

This season I was given the opportunity to dress three shows: Carolina Herrera, Coach, and Delpoza. I thought it would be fun to show you guys pictures from my backstage experience and of the models I dressed this year. While I was sitting on the floor backstage by my rack of clothes at the Coach show James Franco walked right past me! I genuinely hope the childlike adrenaline and butterflies I get before dressing a fashion show never go away.
